I’m trying to keep off coffee. Difficult, for someone who’s used to two of these a day:
I’ve not bought any real coffee powder (read “filter coffee” powder) since September. I have a solitary packet of instant coffee for guests. My hatred for the instant variety is so great that the instant coffee has not even been transferred to a jar.
I feel my knees giving way.
*These are the kind of posts one writes when one has lost the camera’s transfer cable, and has to dig into old pictures to save oneself from lack-of-blogging-insanity.
I love any kind when you write 🙂
Aww, Anjali! You're too kind! 🙂
I am in exactly the same boat! (meaning the coffee-withdrawal boat, although let me assure you my reasons for quitting it are different, me not being pregnant at present…ahem)
Anyway, after 2 weeks of battling the diabolical headache that the state of caffeinelessness inflicts upon the unfortunate coffee-kicker, I succumbed to the pressure exerted by the weak-knee reaction and restarted it, only to find myself a jittery wreck when I did.
Then I was afraid: I was petrified. Couldn't live with it; couldn't live without it…what was I to DO? And then it was that another dark brown knight in meltingly tasty armour came along to rescue me, and I've been successful in switching to drinking chocolate. The Cadbury's version is horribly, horribly sweet, but it DOES help in the transition. I'm supplementing it with lots of dark chocolate bars whenever I get the coffee craving, and I do believe I'll be a successful coffee-kicker eventually. Try it and see, if thou wouldst.
Prachi, I think the chocolate distraction is good for people who generally like chocolate. Me being highly unenthusiastic about consuming cocoa in any form (I love cooking with it, though), am going to just sulk for a bit. And sip on my milk and soy powder drink. Ugh.
Btw, love your Nigella-like language–"dark brown knight in meltingly tasty armour" is SO Nigella!
you know you can make gazallions writing about and taking pictures of food? Did you know that Saee? There, now the thought has been put in your head. (Satisfied smile)
But why ever do you want to give up coffee???
this is a perfect pic … i just feel like having a cup of coffee now ..
